On Wednesday, a motion to re-open the debate on banning plastic bags comes before Toronto city council, that may wipe out the ban or uphold it.

The motion from councillor Peter Milczyn would need the support of two thirds of councillors and if that happens, it could lead to a fiery debate.

Earlier this year council voted to ban single use shopping bags in the city on January 1st.

On Newstalk 1010's the City, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford urged for the bag ban to be overturned, saying it could not sustain a legal challenges, and re-opening the debate is important.

Even if the ban were upheld, it could provide city hall more time to craft a by-law with input from public consultations.

Ontario's Convenience Store Association says it plans to take legal action over the ban.Later this afternoon (Wednesday) a motion to re-open the debate on banning plastic bags comes before Toronto city council.

Billions to run the City and this is what they worry about? Get out of the face of business, taxpayers and the economy! Stop trying to make laws for every conceivable human activity! For the sake of freedom let people decide what's best for themselves!
