Honda, Chrysler recall crossovers & trucks
Honda is recalling more than 268 000 of its popular CR-V.
The recall impacting crossovers from the model years 2002-6, is over an electrical switch in the driver's side door which could melt & cause a fire. Honda says rain could get in through an open window & damage that switch. There have been 4 fires reported so far.
Honda is telling CRV drivers to park outside, with their windows up until their cars are fixed.
Meanwhile Chrysler is recalling over 44 000 trucks over a problem that could cause drivers to lose control & crash.
The recall is for Ram 1500 & Dodge Dakota trucks from the 2009-2010 model year.
A lack of adhesive could cause the rear axle pinion nut to loosen which would lock up the axle & make the truck impossible to steer.
There have been 15 reports of rear axle failure including 4 crashes.
Chrysler will start to send recall letters to owners next month. Dealerships will fix the problem by installing a retainer that will keep the pinion nut in place.
