Peel police are investigating after a woman's body was found in Brampton.

A passerby made the discovery around 1:30pm Sunday, in a wooded area next to 190 Clark Boulveard, not far from the Bramalea City Centre.

Authorities believe they have identified the middle-aged woman but will not release her name until they notify her family.

Police haven't said if the woman's death is suspicious.

The body will be examined by the coroner's office.
