VIDEO: TTC Introduce Public Awareness Campaign

Posted By: Suzette Francis · 10/9/2012 9:54:00 AM

It's called, "Protecting What Matters, a public awareness campaign, that has been launched by the TTC union.

The campaign that was launched by the Amalgamated Transit Union will consist of three 30-second television ads, a 90-second theatrical trailer, several newspaper ads, thousands of posters on the TTC and a special website and will showcase the TTC maintenance workers in the wake of the commission's plans to contract out their jobs.

The campaign was supposed to be launched back in September but was delayed after TTC worker Peter Pavlovski was killed in an accident while on the job.

TTC union boss Bob Kinnear kicked off the campaign at news conference on Tuesday morning.

hope their public awareness campaign includes informing the public ie. taxpayers how much they're paid, what their pensions are, all the extras that are included, as well as a comparison of their efficiency compared to the private sector.

that's equally important in public awareness

The only information the public needs about the TTC cleaners is what they can see with their own eyes in any bus, streetcar, train, or station; namely, the uniform layer of filth covering anything. None of those layabouts are doing their jobs anyway, it's past due that we contract them out to someone who will!

great photo of maintenance dept where they work at about 30-50% of speed of private sector. heard of new employee physically threatened on first day at work for working at private sector pace thereby making the rest look bad.

ttc needs money - start with maintenance dept
