Earthquake Felt in Montreal
The Montreal region was rattled by an earthquake strong enough to wake some people from their slumber just after midnight Wednesday.
Natural Resources Canada says on its website that it was a magnitude 4.5 quake centered in the Longueuil area just south of Montreal. However, the U.S. Geological Survey measured the quake at 3.9.
There were no reports of damage although the quake did create momentary jitters that had some people scurrying briefly from their houses. The temblor lasted just a few seconds, causing buildings to rumble.
Numerous people took to Twitter to report feeling the quake, including Dominique Anglade, a senior executive of Quebec's Coalition party.
