'The Only Thing Missing Are the Can-Can Girls'
Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti is giving a meeting at city hall tonight a thumbs down.
The Toronto and East York Community Council is hearing from the public about the possibility of building a casino in the city.
The community council has asked for a report from staff on zoning issues within its jurisdiction.
Councillor Mammoliti calls the meeting a "theatric spectacle" that he thinks is illegal.
He says on other occasions, the city clerk has told other community councils they can't debate a particular issue because it is a city-wide issue. And Mammoliti says a casino is a city-wide issue.
He says the "city hall show" Wednesday night is just missing Can-Can girls.
Councillor Paula Fletcher, who sits on the community council, says she is saddened by Mammoliti's comments.
She says it is under the purview of a community council to discuss zoning matters.
The Community Council is headed up by Councillor Gord Perks.
