There are reports that a Canadian has been taken hostage in Afghanistan.

Foreign affairs would only say this in a written statement:

We are aware of reports of an alleged kidnapping in Afghanistan. We are pursuing all appropriate channels to seek further information and are in close contact with Afghan authorities.

There has been no confirmation from authorities in Canada or in Afghanistan.
