The Tories are laying the groundwork for a second contempt motion against the Energy Minister, as opposition parties accuse the governing Liberals of lying when it comes to recently released gas plant documents.

A point of privilege regarding the release of documents in the Mississauga and Oakville gas plant cancellations was tabled today. If the Speaker finds a prima facie breach of privilege, as he did last month, then the Progressive Conservatives can file that second motion.

First, 36,000 files were released at the end of September and just last Friday, 20,000 more were tabled.

Before Question Period, both Energy Minister Chris Bentley and Government House leader John Milloy tried to correct the official record, stating they had no idea there were more documents that could be released when the first batch was made public.

Both said they were aware of Ministry and Ontario Power Authority officials conducting a secondary search but didn't say anything because they didn't know if any new documents would be found.

However both the NDP and PCs say they find it suspect that they didn`t know more documents could be coming.

The point of privilege delayed the reading of the fall economic statement by about half an hour.
