Prescription Narcotics Addiction Treatment Program Expands
The province is pumping $15 million dollars into programs to treat prescription drugs.
Health Minister Deb Matthews underlines Ontario has the highest prescription addiction rate in the country, between two and four times more than other provinces.
Most of the funding will be going towards helping mothers and pregnant women. However, Matthews says a portion of the funds will be helping aboriginal communities.
While the province is already monitoring prescription drug use, this will will expand now expand it to monitor ERs and public health units.
