MADD Canada: It's Deplorable

Posted By: Dave Bradley · 10/17/2012 3:50:00 PM

CEO of MADD Canada Andrew Murie spoke with the newsroom, regarding Councillor Ana Bailao's arrest for impaired driving, but also spoke to her announcement that she would plead not guilty when she goes to court on December 3rd.

Murie called the arrest a deplorable act and said there are so many options to avoid driving drunk, especially in Toronto.

He also says when she made her plea, surrounded by other councillors, that it creates the wrong message when it comes to impaired driving.

Murie says what Bailao and those councillors are saying is that 'it's okay to have a bad day, go out and drink and drive and it's a mistake. That's the wrong message'.

He says, especially in a city like Toronto, there's no excuse for driving drunk. There are far too many other options for transportation.

Listening to paula fletcher about this was absolutely disgusting. I'm in the private sector and I have to work hard to pay the salaries of stupid councillors like paula fletcher. that should be a greater excuse to drink however my family and i, including kids, are mature and responsible enough to avoid drinking and driving.

if paula fletcher and her ilk can't be mature and responsible enough let her resign as a councillor.

Glad to see that other two-faced councillors like adam vaughan are keeping quiet.

you can be sure if it were rob ford there'd be so much hue and cry about this council meetings would come to an end.

A perfect example of the two-faced vindictive leftie councillors.

    Disgusting!

Murie should watch what he says. If she's found not guilty he may find him or MADD the subject of a defamation suit for these comments.
