Liberals to Meet This Weekend
The Premier resigned on Monday and this weekend will be the first time the executive of the Ontario Liberal party will be meeting to talk leadership race.
Dalton McGuinty has instructed them to get the leadership vote done as soon as possible, which is why the Liberal executive will be meeting this weekend in Toronto. Sources tell Newstalk 1010 it likely won't be a two-day affair but will hammer out preliminary details when it comes to both the race and the convention where the final vote will take place.
It's unclear if a final date will be set this weekend but it is believed it will happen early next year.
This past week, the premier instructed ministers they would have to step down from their cabinet positions if they want to make a run for it. Yasir Naqvi has distanced himself from his role as Liberal party president but hasn't officially announced his leadership intentions.
