Flu Shot Campaign Begins
Are you going to roll up your sleeve this year?
The province, kicks off it's season flu shot campaign Monday.
For the first time, you can get that shot from a trained pharmacist. About 600 pharmacies will offer the shot, to anyone over the age of 5. Every time a pharmacy administers a flu shot, they will be paid $7.50.
The government said new regulations will also allow pharmacists to add a charge for renewing prescriptions, but the conversation about that has just started.
Pharmacists will also have the power to renew non-narcotic prescriptions for up to 6 months and also provide advice to those with chronic conditions.
The government expects all 3,500 pharmacies in Ontario will be able to offer the flu shots next year.
