Mayor Ford Kicks Off Workforce Development Week
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford kicked off Workforce Development Week in Toronto Monday, an effort to connect employers with those seeking work.
The mayor called the effort a perfect example of the work that can be done when government and the private sector come together.
This week will see a series of events across the city, from employment centre open houses, job and recruitment fairs, networking events, and information sessions for small businesses.
It comes 8 months after city council approved the first ever Workforce Development Strategy for Toronto, focused on simplifying the processes for those looking for work, and those looking to hire employees.
There had been longstanding complaints that it was too difficult to use city services.
