Posted By: Suzette Francis · 10/23/2012 7:35:00 AM

A 40-year-old Toronto man has been arrested in a bicycle theft investigation.

Toronto police say the suspect was selling bicycles online, when a woman recognized one of them as her own and contacted police.

An undercover officer contacted the suspect and made arrangements to purchase the bicycle on Saturday. After the officer made the purchase, the suspect was arrested at his home in the Gerrard Street East and Main Street area.

Police say 12 bicycles were seized at the suspect's home and five of them were reported to be stolen.

Christopher Mowers has been charged with possession of property obtained by Crime.

He is scheduled to make a court appearance on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.

Police believe the other seven bicycles are also stolen and are asking for the public's assistance in identifying the owners.

If you are a victim of a bicycle theft, please view the attached photographs and contact police if you recognize your bicycle.

Police are also reminding bicycle owners to register their bicycles with Toronto Police as this will help in returning recovered stolen bicycles to their rightful owners.
