Feds Say No To Toronto Expo Bid
There will be no World Expo in Toronto in 2025.
The federal government told the city of Toronto Tuesday that they have ended their membership in the body that oversees the World's fair to save cash.
It's only a 25,000 dollar annual fee and 3 or 4 million dollars for a bid but the Government says it ended its membership in the Bureau de International des Expositions and isn't going back.
The letter - written by Heritage Minister James Moore - says Canada is committed to reviewing all spending and cancelled its membership last March.
Mayor Rob Ford had written a letter himself - asking the feds to renew the membership so Toronto could make its bid.
