Bentley Won't Seek Liberal Leadership

Posted By: David Woodard · 10/25/2012 9:25:00 PM

The London Free Press is reporting that Chris Bentley is not seeking the Liberal Leadership nomination, and won't run for re-election once the minority government falls.

Bentley is the subject of a contempt motion at Queens Park as the energy minister that was behind cancelled gas plants in Mississauga and Oakville.

The 56-year-old London-West MPP was first elected when the Liberals came to power in 2003.

Bentley joins Dwight Duncan, Greg Sorbara and Dalton McGuinty that have or will be leaving the Liberal party.

A new leader is expected to be chosen during a party convention in January.
