Flu Shot Not Offered 'On Demand' By All Toronto Pharmacies
Starting this month, you're able to get your annual flu shot at select pharmacies across the province as part of a push to try and make it easier for more people to roll up their sleeves.
But it turns out not every pharmacy offering the service is doing it "on demand."
If you go to one of the 43 Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Toronto offering the shot, the chain is offering flu clinics on specific days (meaning you can't just walk in whenever you want to get the shot) and in some cases you'll need an appointment to get one.
On a government website, Sobeys, Pharmasave, Cedarcourt Pharmacy, Drug Basics, Remedys Lawrence Pharmacy, Costco, Victoria Park Pharmacy, Dufferin Drug Mart, Finch Medical Pharmacy, and Medcentral Pharmacy are also listed as offering flu shots, but only by appointment or on a specific clinic date.
At Rexall locations offering the shot the chain is handing out flu shots at any time without an appointment.
Is that as easy as it sounds?
A Newstalk 1010 reporter walked into a Rexall location on Yonge St. around 11:15 a.m. Friday morning and got the shot by 11:30 a.m. after filling out some standard paperwork. The reporter was finished the entire process in 30 minutes, including the required 15 minute wait time after getting the shot to make sure there is no reaction.
