Health Canada puts stop on some flu vaccines
Health Canada is putting a stop on shipments of some flu vaccines.
Tiny clumps of virus particles have shown up in some batches of vaccines made by Novartis in Italy. Their product accounts for 20% of Canada's seasonal flu vaccine buy.
Health Canada is investigating & has told anyone who gives flu shots to stop using Novartis product for now. A number of European countries have already taken that step.
Novartis says the clumps aren't unusual. If you've been vaccinated with a Novartis product you should be fine. Worst-case-scenario the vaccine won't work as well as it should.
