Police try to retrace Nighisti Semret's last steps
Toronto homicide detectives are trying to piece together the route Nighisti Semret took home the morning she was murdered.
The woman friends called Nicki was stabbed in a Cabbagetown alley last Tuesday morning on her way home from her shift as an overnight cleaner at the Delta Chelsea Hotel.
Police have released photos of what Nicki was wearing & carrying when she was killed, in the hopes someone saw her & knows what route she took. They include a putty-coloured rain coat, navy pants, black safety shoes, 2 tote bags & a light purple umbrella.
Nicki was captured on security camera that morning with her suspected killer following behind. Police are also releasing new photos of the suspect from a camera on Bleecker St.
He's a white man of medium build with dark eyebrows. He was wearing a heavy, dark-coloured 3/4 length coat with round buttons on the cuffs & a light-coloured scarf tied at the back.
He also wore a dark hat with a peak that could be leather. His dark pants looked to be baggy, his shoes dark & worn-looking.
