Winter Classic Could Be Cut
It looks like the Winter Classic is slated to be slashed as early as Thursday.
ESPN is reporting the game which was to be held at the University of Michigan and would have seen the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Detroit Red Wings, could be cut because of the NHL lockout.
If the league cancels the game before Novemeber 2nd, they would recover all but 100 thousand dollars of the rental fee.
The NHL and NHLPA have been at odds since the last meeting on October 25th, when both sides rejected each others contracts.
In cancelling this event, the league stands to lose more than 30 million dollars.
