A man who was shot and killed in the city's west end on Tuesday afternoon has been identified by police as 26-year-old Leonard Charles Fullerton of Toronto.

Police were called to a highrise building at 30 Dinarda Street in the Weston Road and Eglinton Avenue West area at around 4:20 p.m. for the shooting.

Police say Fullerton and a man were involved in a verbal argument when the man produced a handgun and fired several shots at him.

Fullerton was said to have been struck in the head and was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

The suspect is said to have fled on foot, east on Dinarda Street, and subsequently left in a small, silver four-door car.

He is described as black with a light complexion, 6', with a thin build, wearing dark clothing. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous, and is warning the public not to approach him.

Police are asking anyone with information to call them.
