NDP Wants Help For Wawa
The local MPP for flood-devastated Wawa wants the province to deliver emergency funds to help rebuilding the community.
The NDP's Michael Mantha has written a letter to Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Kathleen Wynne, underlining he wants his community to be safe.
Just over 130mm of rain fell on October 25.
Holding up pictures of crumbled roads and demolished homes, Mantha says the community has been severely damaged. He says individual dreams have been washed away into Lake Superior.
Mantha says it will cost tens of millions of dollars to repair the community. He underlines as Ontario offers to help the U.S. recover from the affects of hurricane Sandy, he hopes the province can strike a balance with people affected by natural disasters here at home too.
The federal government is also being asked for help.
