New York marathoners could run in Hamilton

Posted By: Siobhan Morris · 11/3/2012 2:29:00 PM

Would-be New York City marathoners could be lacing up this weekend after all, but it won't be in the Big Apple.

Hamilton has opened up 250 spots in their marathon Sunday especially for displaced New York runners.

The spots are first come first serve & as of 3pm Saturday, 200 of those spots had been snatched up.  Marathoners have to sign up in person at the Expo at Hamilton's Confederation Park.  Registration closes at 5pm.

New York mayor Michael Bloomberg cancelled the marathon Friday as the city tries to get back on its feet after Hurricane Sandy.

GREAT!!! if this happens, it can be a win win...Hamilton can certainly use the revenue, and the excitement. These marathon runners, were certainly at a disadvantage, having to concede to the cancellaton..you have a hotel, you make plans, for a while to make this happen..personally, I do not know how I feel about Mayor Bloombergs decision, but, it was his to make..Good Luck Hamilton!!
