York Regional Police confirm a woman was airlifted to hospital after a 2-vehicle crash on King Road, near Jane Street on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency crews got to the scene around 1:45pm and found the victim trapped in her vehicle.

It took about an hour to free her, at which time she was taken by air ambulance to hospital.

Authorities were not able to comment on the extent of the woman's injuries or if anyone else was hurt.

King Road was closed from the 400 to Keele Street and Jane Street was shut down from King-Vaughan Line to 15th Side Road as crash investigators attempted to piece together what went wrong.
