VIDEO: Operation Kidsafe Brings Fingerprint Station to the GTA
Operation Kidsafe has launched it's second permanent fingerprint station in Canada. Wednesday the new station was unveiled at Don Valley North Toyota in Markham where parents and kids lined up for the photo and fingerprint session.
The station captures hot child's picture and fingerprints using a digital capture device and digital ink-less fingerprint capture device. A printout is then handed over to parents and the information is deleted from the database to protect the child's privacy.
Parents can then hand over that printout, which includes the photograph, to law enforcement officials if their child ever goes missing.
Every day 2,000 children are reported missing in North America.
York Regional Police and Operation Kidsafe say the program is also useful for those with family members who have special needs, including those with Alzheimer's.
The program is free and available during regular business hours at Don Valley North Toyota at Steeles and Victoria Park Avenue in Markham.
