Mayor Ford in Court for Libel Lawsuit
It all started in 2010 during the civic election.
That's when, then candidate, Rob Ford said some things that really bothered the owner of the Boardwalk Pub, in the Beaches.
On Tuesday, the Mayor will be in court for the start of the $6-million dollar defamation lawsuit filed by George Foulidis. He says that Ford made libellous allegations that his deal with the city was signed under corrupt circumstances.
On August 29 of 2010, Ford was a guest on NewsTalk 1010 with Jerry Agar where he said, "“I truly believe they are, and that’s my personal opinion, and when I see all these donations, going through campaigns, it stinks to high heaven. We tried to re-open it [the deal at council], and they wouldn't re-open it,”
Some councillors, NewsTalk 1010 hosts Jerry Agar & John Tory, and former Toronto mayor David Miller could all take the witness stand.
This trial is expected to last for the next 4 days.
