Posted By: Dave Bradley · 11/13/2012 12:15:00 PM

A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after her pelvis was crushed by a garbage truck on Yonge near Gerrard.

The woman was on a bicycle when the incident happened, but details surrounding how the collision happened are still light.

We do know, it happened just before 9 o'clock on Tuesday morning, and police have indicated the driver of the truck originally left the scene, but later returned.

Police say the woman is 38 years old but her name hasn't been released.

No charges have been laid, but Officers are asking for witnesses to come forward.

    too many cycling tragedies. let's hope she'll be okay.

    Wonder how many seconds it'll take before the left wing elements blame privatization for this.

      @proton Yeah, well, ya know what? This is what happens when you privatize garbage pickup. People in London, England warned us about these type of accidents occurring, due to poorly trained agency drivers doing these jobs. Same thing in numerous cities in the US. But, if it happens to you, well, who cares?

    Wow, wasting no time to politicize this woman's tragedy, eh? Jerk.

    I suspect those on "The Left" will point out the irony that three blocks away, city workers are busy removing a bike lane on Jarvis...

    so, was this a City of Toronto Garbage Truck, or a contracted agency; a hit and run??
    ROB FORD MUST RESIGN AS MAYOR as it's ALWAYS his fault....

    Proton and Blatanville... at least the "lefties" aren't using this horrible tragedy as an excuse to talk smack like you two...

    How about some respect for the injured?

      @Douglas @Douglas.
      The comment thread seems to have swallowed my reply to "Richmond Hill for Mayor."
      I didn't get where proton was coming from with the privatization angle until RH chimed in. Then I called them both out for arguing about what kind of truck and who was driving it when a woman had had the lower half of her body CRUSHED - she is the important part of the story here.
