Via trains delayed by building collapse concerns
It's been a frustrating travel day for 200 VIA train riders at Union Station.
2 trains have been held up over fears a building near the tracks at Davenport Rd could collapse onto the tracks.
A train from Sarnia that was supposed to arrive at Union just before 11am Saturday was delayed almost 2 hours.
Via spokesperson Elizabeth Huart says passengers on a train from Union to Sarnia could only go as far as Davenport after pulling out almost 3 hours behind schedule. From there, some were bussed to Sarnia, while others continued on the train to London, dodging the problem area.
Via has also been handing out vouchers for free meals aboard their trains to delayed passengers.
GO train service hasn't been impacted.
By late Saturday afternoon, Via said the problem had been cleared & their trains were running as normal in & out of Union.
