Province Tweaks Sunshine List Structure
The province has closed a loophole that will see a lot more people added to the Sunshine List. Up until now, those included on the annual public sector salary disclosure made over $100,000 in salary alone.
Moving forward, the list will now include people making over $100,000 a year in total, taking into account salary, per diems and retainers.
It's expected to significantly up the number of those on the annual publication with these changes coming into affect as of January 1st.
Finance Minister Dwight Duncan issued a statement underlining this will enhance Ontario's reputation as what he calls a leader in the transparent disclosure of salaries.
Both opposition parties at Queen's Park say it is about time the Liberals acted on this.
