UPDATE: Snow squall warnings north of Toronto

Posted By: Justine Lewkowicz · 11/24/2012 8:26:00 AM

You wouldn't know it in Toronto, but regions north and west of the city are getting a bit of a winter wonderland this weekend.

Environment Canada has updated its special weather statement for Newmarket, northern York region, Barrie, Midland and Collingwood, west to Huron - Perth and London.

These areas are under a snow squall warning.

A squall warning for the Waterloo and Kitchener area, meanwhile, has been called off.

Some areas could see up to 15 or 20 centimetres of snow by late in the day. The highest amounts will be very localized.

The agency is warning of poor driving conditions because of slippery roads and occasional low visibility.

Listeners tell Newstalk 1010 about the weather they woke up to today:

Debbie Lee Keltz-Wolk says: "It was a blizzard in Vaughan and then just as suddenly as it came, it went! Thank goodness."

Mat Grahame says: "It didn't stop all night north of barrie ...Orillia to be exact."

If anyone has photos of the snow, please send them to our newsroom! jlewkowicz@astral.com
