Smitherman on Ford Decision: 'Touchdown for Accountability'

Posted By: Katie Franzios · 11/26/2012 12:13:00 PM

They fought it out in the municipal election campaign and now Rob Ford's opponent - George Smitherman - is speaking out about the decision that sees the man who stole victory away from him removed from office.

Referencing mayor Rob Ford's love for football, Smitherman didn't hide his feeling about the court's decision calling it a "touchdown fro accountability".

When asked if that means Smitherman is planning another run for the city's top job, he underlines the only thing he's considering is a organizing a second parade - after the one to celebrate the Argos' Grey Cup victory - to celebrate the city's liberation.

He says only time will tell what's next for Toronto but maintains the residents who felt what he calls "a great discomfort" over the style of leadership in the city and its "reckless disregard for the law" will be happy justice has prevailed.

Look WHO is talking about accountability.

    Remember e-health; Ornge; Power station?

I wonder HOW accountable Mr. Smitherman is feeling???

This city had ONE chance after the dark ages of Miller to get back on track, it's over now.
Congrats to all those witch hunters who can fill their pockets again.

    Sad day for Toronto

Well, well, well ... Look at who has resurfaced from his hole, that political, pompous poster boy for ACCOUNTABILITY. Nice timing, Georgie! Your gig was up a long time ago.
Please get back in your hole and find ways to waste your own money... Lord knows you've pissed away way too much of ours. Your incompetence, double talk and tired rhetoric precede you wherever you go. Move along now.... good riddance!

Smitherman is the biggest loser of them all.

He wasted millions upon millions and still couldn't help resist blaming it on someone else and now 1010 must be desperate to have him on the air!

These biiter failures crawl out of the woodwork to give their humble opinions about "great discomfort over the syle of leadership" and "reckless disregard for the law"....what a joke coming from Mr. Smitherman...and so many others of his ilk. The hypocrasy reihns supreme. Oh, and dn't you just love his "Touchdown for Accountability" line. I bet he's still marvelling about his perceived wittiness over that one. I am truly sickened beyond belief today.

@barb As far as accountability that is up to the voters. That's what the Liberals will soon find out about.

You've got to be kidding me....touchdown for accountability? When is George and McGinty and all their club members going to be accountable for wasting SEVERAL BILLIONS of dollars and putting the financial future of our children and grandchildren in the toilet? If I were Rob Ford, I would consider this a blessing for him and his family. I have no idea why he has sacrified so much of himself and his family's time to go and try to save us all some of our own money. You can't help the people who don't want to be helped. Let's get the Miller types back in and start spending your money. You'll feel better about it. As for Rob, get back to your business and family - you don't deserve this.
