While Tory Finance Critic Thornhill MPP Peter Shurman says he isn't shocked about the judge's decision to remove Ford from office, he calls it tragic when a political figure in a situation like this.
Shurman says Ford did a reasonably good job getting costs in check at the city. He admits Ford did have some troubles as well. He doesn't seem worried that this would affect the province's relationship with the city.
NDP GTA Critic Davenport MPP Jonah Schein calls it a difficult day for the city but it proves politicians aren't above the law. He calls it a shocking development.
Meantime, Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Bob Chiarelli's office released a statement noting the province respects the judge’s decision, underlining it's up to council to decide how to fill the vacancy if it comes to that.
Don Valley West MPP and former Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister Kathleen Wynne sent out a short statement calling the situation unfortunate. She says she hopes the city can get back to Toronto's "pressing needs" as quickly as possible.
