UN Recognizes State of Palestine

Posted By: Dave Bradley · 11/29/2012 5:36:00 PM

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas says the United Nations General Assembly is being asked to issue the birth certificate of Palestine.

But Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird is blasting the U-N for what he calls its ``regrettable decision'' to allow a historic vote
on Palestinian statehood.

Canada and the United States are poised to vote against a motion to recognize Palestine as a state, on the grounds it could delay hopes of achieving an independent Palestinian state through peace talks with Israel.

The move will elevate the Palestinians from the status of U-N observer to non-member observer state.

    The UN is a joke.
They couldn't get their act together on Rwanda, Darfur, North Korea, Iran, Syria (no room here to name all the member states for whom human rights violations are the status quo) ...but how many resolutions are there against Israel?
    It's just ridiculous.
The UN make Toronto's city council look like the hardest-working, most efficient bunch of politicians on Earth.
You know what the Mid-East never-ending crisis is to those UN jokers? BUSY WORK.

There are more stories to tell about this vote than time can allow, but I worry about my own country Canada that always gets everything late. We chased away the Jews as they tried to dock into Canada for well we are not going to accept you on our shores. Today we are the best defenders of the state of Israel. When a vote came to The UN to demand that The South African apartheid government releases Nelson Mandela, we voted against that resolution for we considered Mandela and ANC as terrorists, today Nelson Mandela holds a Canadian honorary citizenship. A vote has today come on a floor of The UN to recognize a state of Palestine and we have not only opposed it but our very own minister John Baird has thrown in threat that are going to take very immediate effect. I cannot wait to see how we will recognize Palestine come 10 15 years down the road.

Why are we always this slow on international issues? One cannot help but wonder.
