UPDATE: Man Shot Dead in Mississauga Home Invasion

Posted By: Michelle Rosa · 12/7/2012 5:12:00 PM

Police in Peel are investigating the death of a man during a home invasion in Mississauga.

One person was shot dead at a home on Corkstone Glade, near Rathburn and Dixie Road.

Peel police say the man was found inside the home, shot multiple times. It started out as as a call for a home invasion and robbery around 12:30 a.m on Friday.

A woman and two children, described as infants, were said to also be in the house at the time of the incident.

Police say the man killed is alleged to have broken into the home with two other suspects. There was a confrontation and struggle that led to the death of 22-year old Ibrahim Abukar. Police say there is no information connecting the man to the homeowner.

Police are searching for at least, two suspects described as black males wearing dark colored clothing.

No charges have been laid and none are pending, investigators say they are still trying to track down the two suspects.

This is how it should be.
If people come into you home with evil intent, you should be able to use whatever force is needed to protect yourself and your family, and not have to worry that you will go to jail for this.
It's not a blanket permission for vigilante action, but too many cases unlike this one seem to give the criminals more rights than the victims.

Look up the travesty of justice that is happening to Ian Thompson

Finally some common sense. There have been Canadians dragged through police stations and court systems for merely defending themselves and their families against these sorts of brutal crimes. They been victimized twice, and just because they've used force if the threat against them warranted it. Police and the courts should leave people alone when they legitimately and justifiably defend themselves. That is a right that transcends either the Firearms Act or the criminal code... as it is a basic fundamental human right: the right to defend our own life or the lives of our family members. Thank you police for finally seeing that!

@Chris Now compare this with the Ian Thomson case and try to explain what is going on in these different jurisdictions.
In Thomson's case, they were trying to burn him alive , using Molotov Cocktails. Police and Fire responded over 22 minutes later, before he took matters into his own hands and fired shots into the ground to drive the people trying to kill him off.
      Something wrong with this.

Its a shame a 22 year old and his buddies made bad choices. The impact to an innocent family in their own home is going to be long standing. I couldnt imagine having to experience such an incident and for the ending to be tragic. I hope the family have support to recover from this traumatic experience and I am sorry for the loss of the family related to the young man who lost his life for a senseless crime.

@Alison Copoc Thanks to God they came to Mike's house not mine. I would be dead but Mike is a strong man and could handle the attackers.
