Public meeting today on closure of Runnymede fire hall
Community members in the Bloor West area will gather Sunday for a public meeting, after hearing news that the Runnymede fire hall is slated to close in January.
The closure is part of council's cost-cutting measures to reduce the fire budget. Four other fire halls are to be reduced from two trucks to one.
The head of the Toronto Professional Fire Fighters Association tells the Toronto Sun that parking fire trucks is a gamble, or Russian roulette.
Councillor Sarah Doucette called today's meeting which will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at Swansea Town Hall.
