*UPDATE* Fire at Chemical Warehouse in Brampton

Posted By: Newstalk 1010 · 12/17/2012 2:16:00 PM

At one point, smoke could be seen from across the city as a fire burned at an industrial building in Brampton.

Fire crews were called just before 1:30 on Monday, to reports of flames at the building on Walker Drive, in the Airport Road and 407 area.

Brampton Fire says the company that houses the building is Empack who produce 30 million cans of aerosol annually.

Chemicals like ethanol and heptane are stored in the building and crews are dousing tanks with water to keep them cool and avoid a possible explosion.

Peel Police have the area cordoned off, but the closures are not affecting any major routes.

If anything, the blaze is a visual distraction for those on the 407.

One person was injured and taken from the scene with what's believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

At it's peak, 15 trucks, and 50 firefighters were on scene battling the blaze, along with the foam truck from Pearson Airport.

There's no word on how the fire started.
