Obama asks for proposals on curbing gun violence by January
Barack Obama wants a set of "concrete proposals" on gun control no later than January.
In the wake of a mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Obama has pulled together a task force to look at what the US President calls an epidemic of gun violence.
Vice President Joe Biden is leading the committee made up of members of Obama's cabinet & outside groups.
The President has vowed to push their proposals through "without delay".
Obama admits gun control is a complex issues that stirs deeply held passions & political divides. He says "It won't be easy, but that can't be an excuse not to try".
