Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has wrapped up its probe of a crash in East Gwillimbury involving 2 York Region police officers.

The SIU is called in when someone is seriously hurt or killed while interacting with police.

An unmarked cruiser carrying Sergeant Kelly Bachoo & Constable Andy Pattenden collided with a pickup Thursday afternoon on Mt Albert Rd near Kennedy Rd.

The SIU found the pickup had crossed the road's centre line & hit the cruiser head on.

Bachoo, who was driving the police car, was taken to hospital with serious, but non life threatening injuries.

Pattenden & the driver over the truck weren't seriously hurt.
