If your car's gas tank is running close to empty, you can save yourself a little cash by filling up before midnight.

Dan McTeague with tomorrowsgaspricetoday.com says pump prices in the GTA rise by 0.8 cents overnight.

That'll put the cost for a litre of regular around $1.23 at most stations.

McTeague says right now, pump prices are closely tied to negotiations in Washington over the fiscal cliff.  He says if there's no deal, prices will start to move downwards over time.

He expects a deal close to January 1st would push gas prices closer to the $1.30/L range.
