Separated 'same-sex' Toronto Zoo penguins become dads
Two of the world's most famous penguins are now dads.
Toronto Zoo residents Buddy and Pedro are endangered African penguins who made headlines when animal experts started to examine the possibility that the birds were a same-sex couple.
Since then, Buddy and Pedro have been separated and matched with female partners.
Their chicks were among 5 African penguin hatchlings that were born at the Zoo over the holidays.
Zoo officials say there is another penguin couple with 2 eggs due to hatch any day now.
Toronto Zoo visitors will be able to see the penguin chicks at their indoor enclosure starting next month.
