South Simcoe Police are investigating after a body was found inside a home in Innisfil early Saturday.

A 911 call about a house being fully engulfed in flames came in just after 2am.

When firefighters pulled up, they found a 53-year-old man who had tried to get into the house, which belongs to his 82-year-old father.

The son was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.  The name of the deceased hasn't been made public.

It isn't clear what caused the fire but the home is destroyed.
