Toronto Man Arrested After Police Officer Assaulted

A 39 year old Toronto man is facing 9 charges, including assaulting a peace officer, after allegedly breaking a police officer's leg.

It happened Monday in the Scarborough Golf Club Road and Ellesmere Road area.

Cops were trying to investigate him, when the man took off with the officers giving chase.

Police then say the suspect allegedly charged at one of the officers, knocking him to the ground. That officer suffered a broken leg.

The suspect then allegedly tried to nab the officer’s gun, before being arrested.

The second officer also suffered a leg injury.

39 year old Richard Clarke of Toronto has been charged with Obstruct Peace Officer, Assault, Threatening Bodily Harm, Aggravated Assault, Disarming Peace Officer, Assault with intent to resist arrest, Assaulting a peace officer, Carry Concealed Weapon and Weapons Dangerous.
