Wealthy Seniors May Have to Pay for Home Care

Posted By: Newstalk 1010 · 1/8/2013 1:50:00 PM

The Ontario government is considering asking seniors with higher incomes to chip in for their home care.

A report meant to pave the way for the province's strategy on seniors care recommends exploring the possibility of an ``income-based system.''

It's one of 169 recommendations laid out in the report titled ``Living Longer, Living Well,'' the highlights of which were released today.

Health Minister Deb Matthews says the province has already moved to an income-based system when it comes to drug co-pays,  and it may be time to do so for home care.

She says that if asking some seniors to contribute would allow more seniors to get care ``that's a conversation we need to have.''

But she stresses the province will ensure everyone has access to the health care they need, regardless of their financial situation.

Why is it Socialist Liberal and Communist NDP politicians can only think of ways to spend the hard working, middle class, family peoples money - usually by padding their fat asses and those of their corrupt friends!. Never have they ever suggested any ways to cut expenditures. EVER! It proves their sole purpose is to buy votes and look after their lazy fat career government asses. Add in the support of the communist, socialist, leftist media (Tornoto Star is a good example) and we can easily see that the shrinking working class can no longer support the lazy give-me, give-me growing class of entitlement. Talk about the real "Idle no More." see what happens when those that foot the bill wake up and take action. Can you say Greece to a multiple of 10x?

@Ken Be careful what you say on here, when you try to rationalize about making money and keeping some of it for yourself, free enterprise, success and not wanting the government throwing your money away to greedy politicians and out of touch with reality unions or just wanting to make the freeloaders happy by keeping and adding more and more ridiculous social programs, you will be accused of being a redneck and if you dare defend Rob Ford then you're a super redneck. It's just unbelievable.

Sure. Steal more money from our hard working seniors who have built and carried this country on their backs - because they worked hard, honestly and were successful. Take it from these people in the final years of their lives. Make their lives more difficult and stressful. Plead broke government then turn around and throw a BILLION dollars over 6 years at a corrupt and unaccountable society in Haiti because a "politically correct" ex-governor general immigrant from Haiti feels good when we throw money that just disappears into the hands of her corrupt tropical island friends. Check out how much the GG expenses increased during her "reign!"
Canada bad? F$%*&@#$ I think not.
