A Burlington teen has just learned the power of social media.

The 17 year old was arrested after allegedly posting a picture of himself on Facebook, holding a high powered rifle.

Halton Regional Police also claim there was a threat to another person, as a caption under the photo.

During the arrest, police seized two shotguns, shotgun ammunition and the high powered rifle shown in the photo.

The boy's name won't be released, but he's been charged with Utter Death Threat, Use Firearm in Commission of an Offence, and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.

Detective Sgt Jeff Hill from Halton Regional Police says this doesn't appear to be gang related, adding the guns belonged to a person the boy knew.

Hill said they didn't belong to the boy's parents.
