Maple Leafs open practice to fans as apology

Posted By: Michelle Rosa · 1/17/2013 11:57:00 AM

As an apology to fans, the Toronto Maple Leafs are giving you a chance to see them play for free.

Fans are invited to an open practice scheduled for 10 o'clock Thursday morning at the Air Canada Centre.

Open practices were also held on Monday and Tuesday, but due to limited seating, only 150 fans could watch. That was at the Mastercard Centre.

Fans who want to attend Thursday's practice should get there early since access is based on first come, first served. You have to enter the building through Gate 1 and seating is in the lower bowl section. Gates open at 9:30 a.m.

After that, the Leafs will have just one more full practice before the season-opener in Montreal on Saturday night. The home opener at the ACC is on Monday night when the Leafs take on the Buffalo Sabres.

I personally think that the leafs should give something else back to all of their fans not just 150 of them that's not being apologetic towards the fans so if people are dumb enough they will fight to see the leafs practice that's it!! Why not lower ticket prices for the season?! Myself and my dad are huge leaf fans but my dad has always wanted to go to a leaf game but could never afford it so maybe if they want to "give" something back to their fans it should be cheaper seats at a regular season home game but we all know that will never happen even tho all of the other teams are doind something great for their fans in all honestly I think fans should walk away from the leafs and let them have no fans until the can appreciate the loyal fans!!!

Like a free practice is enough. Ha. How about lower the insanely high ticket prices for good, instead of nickle and diming every fan out of all their money. The worst team in the NHL, but the highest prices.

Not to mention the players lack of caring or respect for fans. I say the hell with this season. The lockout might be over, but you can sure as hell count me out for this season at least. I won't watch any games on TV, I won't buy any memorabilia, and I sure as hell won't go to a live game.

This isn't just the Leafs, it's all the players, all the teams and all the morons who run the NHL *Gary*. Here in Canada we have a few sports, but the only one I like is hockey... So, other than the CHL, i'm out of luck. Bah, not anymore. I refuse to give in like we always do after a lockout.

Remember folks, if we don't go to the games they will be forced to lower prices and maybe in the future they'll think about the fans. Without us the NHL would crumble to dust. We do have the power. Why don't we use it? The NHL has used their power to abuse us enough... I say lets switch sides, yes?

This is a slap in the face to all Leaf fans. Other team in the NHL offering free food free parking. What do we get?? We get to go watch them practise how to lose. Leaf fans you just got bitch slapped.

This practice was for marketing to figure out if they had to do anything extra. A zillion people showed up, sooo... they're good.

Toronto Leafs fans are so weird. I find it hard to comprehend how these "fans" actually support a team with so little to offer for so long. I guess there are more masochists in Toronto then I could have imagined. Personally, I gave up on those losers a long time ago.

I really enjoyed the comments one of your listeners made. "It's like some rich guy telling you it's OK if you want to wash his car"
