A woman is lucky to be alive after she was attacked by a man and thrown onto the subway tracks in Philadelphia.

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) police say the vicious attack happened around 3:30 p.m., Tuesday when a man approached her on the platform and asked for a light.

Surveillance video shows the suspect moving closer to the woman, before he started beating her without warning.

The man then grabbed the woman by the ankles, drags her then throws her onto the tracks before walking away with her cell phone.

Police say the 23-year-old woman was very fortunate to walk away with only bumps, bruises and some cuts.

The suspect was arrested two days later after police identified him by the jacket he was wearing.

    What a disgusting piece of garbage! I don't think there is one person out there who could even try to defend him under any circumstances....not even his own mother!

    Ok, I just threw up in my mouth just thinking about the fact that he'll be released in less than 48 hours and IF he gets convicted he will likely serve less that 2 years in prison.
    What kind of person does this to another human being.. Then double checks to see if his victim is dead! Just sad.

    I just can't believe people like him exist. This is so disturbing, that poor women. No one deserves that. I hope he rots in jail... even that is not enough.

    It shouldn't break your heart, it should show you what the world is and why we NEED REAL LAW. Death penalty for ALL and there would be no crime.

    After being arrested, and hes found guilty, his punishment should be thrown onto the tracks the exact same way but also throw in a subway train to hit him. People like this don't deserve jail they should just be killed, why waste tax money sending him to jail where he'd prob love it.

    It is fouat tat ths happened inthe US as the courts will dal with the accused in a very severe and appropriate manner. The judges in Canada would lkely nominate the accused for the Nobel Peace Prize if he were found culpable on this side of the border. Our judicial system has to deal with the guilty in a much more serious way.
