Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf will have new alternate captains this season: Clarke MacArthur & Joffrey Lupul.
Coach Randy Carlyle announced the changes Saturday morning ahead of the Leafs' season-opener against the Habs.
They replace centre Mikhail Grabovski & defenceman Mike Komisarek, who each wore an A last season.
Jay McClement will step in to wear an A whenever Lupul or MacArthur miss a game.
A few thousands fans braved a snowstorm to watch free game-day skates for both teams.
As loud as they cheered the Canadiens, the Leafs were booed as the NHL's oldest rivalry resumed.
Ben Scrivens left the ice first, a sign he'll be Toronto's starting goalie ahead of James Reimer.
Carey Price will be in the net for Montreal.
