*EXCLUSIVE* Brampton Nets CHL Franchise
Brampton is about to be home to the first Canadian Central Hockey League franchise.
City Council gave the team the thumbs up to play out of the Powerade Centre starting in the fall of 2013.
There's still no name for the franchise, who will join teams like the Wichita Thunder, The Rapid City Rush and Denver Cutthroats.
The team will play in the same building the OHL's Brampton Battalion are currently using.
But it was back in November, that the OHL gave the green light for that franchise to move to North Bay.
Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell told Newstalk1010 that they scored a 'big goal' in getting the franchise.
She says the teams owners chose Brampton because of the facility, the location and the fact that the GTA is a hockey hotbed.
The Central Hockey League has been around for 21 years, and this will be the first time a franchise has set up shop in Canada.
The team will be owned by Gregg Rosen, who owns Kimko Steel in the Kingston area.
