Ford Verdict To Be Heard Friday

Posted By: Dave Bradley · 1/24/2013 4:50:00 AM

The wait is almost over.

We'll find out on Friday morning if Rob Ford gets to keep his seat as Mayor of Toronto.

It was on January 7th, that a three judge panel listened to both sides in the one and only appeal hearing.

Ford was appealing a ruling in November that found him in conflict of interest, and ordered him removed from office.

He later won a stay on that ruling pending the outcome of his appeal.

At issue is a vote in council, that Ford participated in, which asked council whether or not he should be forced to pay back money he raised for his football foundation.

He’s long argued that he did nothing wrong and was only trying to help the kids.

If he loses this appeal, Ford would be removed from office, and either Torontonians would go to the polls in a byelection, or City Council would appoint a new mayor.

@Stug As much as I support Rob and I want him to remain Mayor, my biggest reason for that would be to see Smug Stug crying in his Chardinnay with Adam, the mayor wannabe. Course there are so many wannabes on City council he's have to stand in line.

@Stug Can't wait for the idiots to realize what they got instead of subways. for a free preview, head up to Hwy 7 at Woodbine and picture that on Eglinton. We all lost that debate.

Hopefully the big guy gets to stay on and keep on privatizing as many services as possible. He's the only mayor we've had in ages who's had the sense to try and break the stranglehold public sector unions have on this city.

Rob is full of crap Has no principle and is a show man full of antics and attention getting but when it comes to action he plays on the heart strings of the people. I .. as one of those people who has closely interacted with Rob has come to realize he has no principle, keeps no promises, and stings people along and is a liar. Hope he gets stung and feels the pinch for once or twice or 3 or 4 and more times. I know him more so now than ever before. Seeing him on TV is just for show and tell.

Stick a fork in this roast ... it's been cooked for a while.
Now, Toronto Councillors, save time and money by appointing the deputy mayor, get back to some real business and put an end to this ridiculous soap opera.

@Only Common Sense Yes, that upstanding, sanctimonious bunch down at city hall will do a wonderful job. Can't wait to see Adam Vaughan at the help, he can't sleep right now, he is so excited about Friday. Yes, Vaughan is the man for the job.

You can smell the rot and stench of the wannabees and nobodys lined up waiting for the carcass to be dumped on the street by the "injustice system" like cockroaches at your local contracted food vendor in the Beach.

Here's hoping the injustice system realizes the mayor was elected in a democracy. We need more cuts and privatization.

A good place to start would be cutting the size of silly council by 50%.

Then, privatize, privatize, cancel, slash, cut, downsize that 50,000 employee monster we call city staff! One city employee per 100 residents would mean cutting this monster down to 22,000!

    The sooner, the better!
