Was Giorgio Mammoliti's phone tapped?
Giorgio Mammoliti says he has proof now that his phones have been tampered with.
Speaking with reporters at City Hall Friday, the city councillor wouldn't reveal in what way his phones had been messed with or what kind of evidence he has.
Mammoliti says he wishes he could share the information, but doing it now could hurt a private investigation into what he calls a conspiracy against him & other right-leaning councillors.
Tapping a phone is not all that difficult for a determined do it yourself-er. And Don Salt, President of Highpoint Security Technologies tells Newstalk 1010 unless the installation was done by a rank amateur, you'd never know anyone else was listening in to your phone conversations.
He says if it's done right, a phone bug doesn't pack any stereotypical tell tale signs like clicking on the line.
Mammoliti is paying a private investigator out of pocket to find evidence of the alleged conspiracy. If & when he has enough, Mammoliti plans to take that evidence to Toronto Police.
